VP, Clinical Operations, Anterior Segment & Medical Devices

As Ora’s Vice President of Clinical Operations overseeing research in the Anterior Segment and Medical Devices spaces, Caitlin Black has 17+ years of experience working in ophthalmology as a clinician and clinical researcher. She serves as a thought leader for both internal and external clients and partners, overseeing all clinical operations for Ora’s global anterior segment and medical device therapeutic areas. Caitlin’s experience and strategic guidance allow the programs she manages to achieve clinical and commercial success while ensuring services are carried out by project teams in accordance with executed contracts, budgets, and clients’ expectations.

Caitlin has been with Ora since 2014, holding positions including Senior Clinical Trial Associate, Clinical Project Manager, and Director / Senior Director of Clinical Operations. Her deep industry knowledge makes her a nimble and effective leader in the fast-moving anterior segment and device arenas, and a trusted advisor on the clinical development and regulatory strategy within the devices market.

Prior to joining Ora, Caitlin worked as an orthoptist (ophthalmic clinician) and clinical researcher at Harvard-affiliated hospitals and research institutes, where she oversaw ophthalmic studies with investigators from Boston Children’s Hospital, Massachusetts Eye & Ear and the Schepens Eye Research Institute.

Caitlin earned an advanced degree in Clinical Vision Science and Ophthalmic Medical Technology from Dalhousie University, a Masters in Project Management from Boston University and Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Neuroscience from Northeastern University. She is a board-certified orthoptist.
