Ora, Inc. Donation to Support Ophthalmology-Focused Clinical Research Sites Impacted by COVID-19

June 3, 2020

The Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP) today announces Ora, Inc. as the first corporate supporter of the Clinical Research Site Sustainability Fund.

Ora’s generous donation will allow ACRP to provide continuing education and career development resources through ACRP Membership to nearly 50 clinical research professionals working at clinical trial sites adversely impacted by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

“Investigator sites and their teams are hurting. This is particularly true for sites engaged in ophthalmology studies,” says Jim Kremidas, ACRP Executive Director. “COVID-19 is disrupting site operations and threatening global capacity to conduct both private- and public-sponsored clinical trials. Many smaller sites are laying off or furloughing staff. At the same time, struggling sites are cutting budgets and programs that support staff development and make sure clinical operations teams are properly trained and ready to execute studies for sponsors and CROs. We are grateful for Ora’s considerable support, which will help ACRP ensure sites’ teams keep their skills honed and stay current with best practices – ready to keep medical progress moving.”

Ora’s donation will be directed to clinical researchers working in ophthalmology trials.

“During these challenging times it is important for us to reach out and help our partners. This will ensure the continuation of research and provide new care options for patients,” says Jeanne Hecht, CEO at Ora, Inc. “Joining forces with ACRP on this program was a perfect way to offer sites the support and resources they so greatly need. We remain fully committed to advancing and innovating in the field of ophthalmology, this is not possible without the hard work and dedication of our investigator sites and their teams.”

The Clinical Research Site Sustainability Fund is a new initiative of ACRP’s Partners in Workforce Advancement designed to support sites struggling with the impacts of COVID-19.

Partners in Workforce Advancement is a multi-stakeholder collaborative initiative to grow the clinical research workforce and to set and support standards for workforce competence.
